Helping coding hobbyists launch professional careers in development.
Lighthouse Labs is based out of Canada’s most dynamic tech hubs, where you’ll be immersed into full-stack web or iOS development through hands-on experience. The Vancouver campus is located in the heart of historic Gastown, alongside local startup hub Launch Academy.
With the support of a brilliant team of instructors and mentors who view coding as the ultimate craft, you’ll join the ranks of over 500 developers in the Lighthouse Labs community. Our industry driven-curriculum and rigorous education standards have created the ultimate result for our graduates: over 95% employment rate.
The classroom is more than just a place to work. The cozy space features exposed brick walls and tons of wired desks where students learn to code and easily access mentorship from instructors. It is intentionally open concept to provide natural collaboration. Students have 24/7 access to campus and spend upwards of 12 hours a day in the classroom - that totals over 480 hours in these lovely rooms during the 8 weeks of the program.
With some furniture reconfiguration, the main classroom space transforms into an event venue to host tech talks, hackathons, coding events, and Demo Days; where students present their final project to an audience of friends, family, staff and prospective employers. The space is the hub for the hundreds of Lighthouse Labs alumni, mentors, and potential students to connect with the developer community.
Being a food motivated bunch, the kitchen is perfect for cooking meals together. The full-stack kitchen includes everything you need: an oven (to bake fresh cookies, of course), fancy coffee machines, two fridges + a beer fridge, and even a waffle maker. The kitchen is the social hub of the space, where Lighthouse Labs & Launch Academy members can mingle and bond.
There are 7 dedicated meeting rooms that are shared with Launch Academy. They have fun names like the Ideation, MVP, and Discovery Rooms. Each room is equipped with tons of desk space, comfy chairs, and glass walls for storyboarding.
In the lounge, you’ll find everything from alumni working on projects, staff playing guitar, students attending a coding breakout, and our office dogs cruising for scratches. This space is also home to plenty of couches, big Lighthouse themed pillows, and our GameCube + Wii, making it a great place to slack off.
Tests and projects are tough; students and staff are encouraged to blow off steam and stresses by grabbing a drink and unwinding. There’s something for everyone - darts, video games, puzzles, a walk along the beautiful downtown Vancouver seawall, or even a quiet corner to take a nap.
Vancouver is well known for its bike culture, and the Lighthouse Labs campus is easily accessible by many cyclist-friendly routes. To accommodate the number of riders that enter the space, there is a dedicated wall and rack room where students and staff can safely stow their whips!
